Abstract

The article presents a conceptual analysis of the
phenomenon of self-determination as a leading factor
in implementation of a life project. The content of the
concept consists of the following main theses.
The functional purpose of self-determination is
to ensure the autonomy of life, which is the leading
condition for the realization of its natural purpose – a
life project. Self-determination is the embodiment of
the functional necessity and “right” of any subject of
the project of life to autonomy in solving strategic and
situational problems of its existence. The factor of the
need for self-determination is the amorphousness and
uncertainty of the life situation. Self-determination
as a specific form of human activity is formed by the
acts that it performs in order to determine himself:
to overcome the chaos of uncertainty in himself and
to organize himself by means of self-determination.
The psychological guarantee of this activity is such a
human trait as intolerance to uncertainty. Motivation to
overcome uncertainty and psychological ways to satisfy
it – mechanisms that have evolved. The mechanism of
self-determination among them is fundamental.
Self-determination involves focusing on one's own
standards and indicators for assessing the effectiveness of
life and distancing oneself from standards and indicators
of other factors, because only one's own criteria and
indicators are the most adequate and accurate due to
their natural high sensitivity to the authenticity of their
owner and carrier.
Self-determination is a process that takes place on
the conscious, subconscious and unconscious levels of
personal functioning.
The system of the psyche that provides the process
of self-determination and achieving a state of selfdetermination is the human self. This is due to its functional
purpose, which is to ensure psychological self-regulation
as a universal process, covering all types, forms and
levels of life of the individual. Self-determination is one of
the leading functions of the self system.
The core of the self is the genophenom of authenticity.
The genophenom of authenticity performs the function of
a personal genetic factor of the integrity of life and the
authenticity of its movement as a process of realization
of its project.
The task of the genophenom of authenticity is to
keep all system-forming components and qualitative
characteristics of life in a concentrated compressed form
and unique configuration in accordance with its inherent
software algorithm and to play the role of genetic factor
of life integrity and authenticity of its movement as a
process of its project.
