Abstract

The materials of the article are primarily intended for practical psychologists of institutions of general secondary education. The author presents substantiated materials on ensuring the adaptability of gifted students in the learning process. The issue of social and psychological problems that arise in gifted students due to their specifc development is raised. The article analyzes psychological technologies for working with gifted children, in particular tutoring technology. The author examines the advantages of using tutoring technology in an institution of general secondary education. The author's method of tutor support is proposed, which includes the following components: informational and semantic, diagnostic and corrective and developmental. The author focuses on the diagnosis of students as an important stage of identifying among the group of gifted students those who need help. An important component of the methodology is a group form of work with students who need support in the process of adaptation as an active method of acquiring skills “here and now”. Previous empirical studies have confrmed the effectiveness of this technique.

The main conclusions of the study are as follows: gifted students have personality traits that clearly distinguish them from their peers and thereby cause difculties in communication; if this issue is not raised in educational institutions, gifted students lose the opportunity for full self-realization; the process of adaptation is continuous, it is a dynamic process that can be influenced; it is possible to promote the adaptability of gifted students in educational institutions through a group form of work in the form of trainings; one of the effective methods of preventing the maladjustment of gifted students is the use of the tutoring support method offered by us in an educational institution.
