Abstract

The article is devoted to the actual problem of the application of STEM education during the education of students in primary school. The project method is considered as the most promising means of implementing STEM education in primary school. It has been proven that STEAM projects bring schoolchildren closer to reality, eliminating the gap between theoretical problem solving and practical implementation of acquired knowledge.

The core idea behind STEM is learning through inquiry. With such an approach, students develop a desire to research, learn, and motivation increases, because all children are born researchers. Research competence is an important basis for learning in middle and high school. Such students will be able to generalize and distinguish essential features, analyze, compare, draw conclusions.

The specifics of the work system for creating an active educational and research environment as a direction of the teacher's innovative activity have been clarified.

The purpose of the article is to highlight the problem of applying STEM education during the education of students in primary school, to expand the ideas of teachers about the possibilities and resource potential of STEM technology in education.

Revealing the peculiarities of the application of STEM education in primary school, attention is focused on the importance of educating students of competence in the fields of STEM technologies, which contributes to the development of innovations in modern life.

The practical issues of implementing a STEM lesson in primary school are highlighted. Examples of STEM approaches in elementary school lessons are given.

The introduction of STEM approaches into the educational process of NUSH will contribute to teachers' acquisition of relevant competencies and understanding of STEM for the effective use of elements of this technology in their own pedagogical practice.

The practical significance of the article is that its materials can be used in the organization of the educational process of general education institutions and primary school teacher training.
