The study guide is a collection of interesting practical tasks for the comprehensive formation of environmental literacy and a healthy lifestyle as one of the key competencies of education and personality development of a junior high school student. Ecological education is carried out at all stages of personality formation, a certain goal and task are set at each stage, and an appropriate method is selected taking into account age characteristics.
A teacher can develop children's environmental literacy during current lessons or educational hours, thematic or festive events, performing various environmental projects. However, school disciplines have different opportunities for the formation of this competence. Thus, the educational material of the subjects of the natural cycle is more than the discipline of the social and humanitarian profile, which is related to the environment and health. Such disciplines as biology, geography, physics, chemistry, ecology, the basics of health and physical culture are even thematically very close to problems directly related to environmental literacy and healthy living. Therefore, it is much easier to form them in such lessons.
However, it is possible to develop this important competence in schoolchildren during any lessons. The main thing is to single out the most promising topics and determine the correct approach to the presentation of educational material.
What forms of work to choose? This guide contains many effective tools that can be used to build key student competencies. As experience shows, the following will be the most effective in forming environmental literacy and a healthy life: solving environmental puzzles, riddles and crosswords; preparation and presentation of projects on environmental topics; work with visual materials (photos, motivators, videos, mental maps, etc.); preparation of the thematic design of the class; carrying out environmental and local history excursions and promotions.
The authors of the manual aim to share the experience and practical work that elementary school teachers can use in their native language, mathematics, fine arts and English lessons in order to comprehensively form environmental literacy and a healthy lifestyle as one of the key competencies of education and personality education junior schoolboy It is recommended for use by teachers during the preparation and conducting of lessons in the Ukrainian language, mathematics, visual arts, and English language for students of grades 1-4
