Author’s Optional Course Program “Life of the Microworld”

The purpose of modern Ukrainian basic general
secondary education is the development and
socialization of students personality, the formation
of their national identity and culture, ecological
worldview, activation of creative and research skills
and abilities, also the ability to self-development
and self-improvement. One of the key knowledge
required for this is biology and ecology. After all,
knowledge of biology is the basis for the formation
of students’ scientific worldview, intelligence,
environmental awareness, as well as motivation for
a healthy lifestyle and environmental protection.
The world around us consists of two parts −
visible and invisible, macroworld and microworld.
The curriculum of the optional course “Life of the
microworld”, which is offered for review, is devoted
to the issue of life in the microworld, its features,
significance for the macroworld, the human body, its
health. The elective program is designed for students
in grades 6−7 who are just beginning to learn the
basics of biological knowledge in high school and
is designed to give them an idea of the microscopic
organisms around us, their most important
representatives, the importance for human life and
for other multicellular organisms.
In total, the program of the optional course
“Life of the microworld” consists of 16 hours of
lectures, 17 hours of practical (laboratory) work
and 2 excursions (a total of 35 hours). The elective
program is based on the use of modern knowledge
of the structure of the organic world system at the
level of domains and superkingdoms, which relate to
the latest classification and taxonomy of the organic
world (as of 2017).
