Project Method in Schoolchildren’s Environmental Competence Formation in Natural Cycle Lessons

In the article the author analyses the problem of
secondary education students’ ecological competence
formation by means of a training project method. The
essence of the ecological project and the need for the
teacher to select the projects’ topics and include them in
the educational process of the institution are determined.
It was found that the project technologies’ implementation
determines the growing role of each student in learning.
It was found that the schoolchildren’s systematic
involvement in an environmental projects contributes
to the development of an active environmental position.
It is proved that the environmental projects’ use in the
educational process creates conditions for the successful
environmental competence formation.
The problem of an ecologically competent personality
formation as a life competence component has become
a leading one in modern psychological and pedagogical
science. The New Ukrainian School concept defines that
one of the key competencies is an environmental one.
The purpose of the article is to substantiate the content,
structure and objectives of the environmental project as
a means of forming the secondary education students’
environmental competence on the example of Zaporizhia
Lyceum № 34 experience.
To achieve this goal it was necessary to perform the
following tasks: to review the methodological literature on
the research topic; to find out the essence of the concepts
"design method" and "environmental competence"; to
determine pedagogical possibilities of the secondary
education applicants’ ecological competence formation
by an application of a training project method in the
natural sciences studying course.
