Formation of Ethnocultural Competence in Students of General Secondary Education Institutions with the Use of P. Chubynsky’s Creative Heritage

The article reveals the importance of using the
ethnocultural heritage of P. Chubynsky in the formation of
ethnocultural competence in students of general secondary
education in Ukraine. The author represents the importance
of P. Chubynsky’s contribution in the formation of Ukrainian
pedagogy. The educational functions of the ethnocultural
heritage of P. Chubynsky in the formation of ethnocultural
competence in students and their implementation in
practice in secondary schools of Ukraine are determined.
The formation of ethnocultural competence of general
secondary education students is an urgent problem of modern
pedagogical theory and practice in the new educational
school, which is characterized by the growing role of
ethnocultural factors in teaching and ideas of folk pedagogy.
Ethnocultural education has the opportunity to
contrast the educational potential of national culture, the
fascination with computer games, the spread of drug and
alcohol abuse in children, which are becoming a certain
value of modern mass culture, becoming an attribute of
life. Recently, the parent community has shown interest
in raising children based on national traditions, national
culture and history, and the reason for this – the content
of ethnocultural education – has a national component
based on the priority of universal values, based on
traditional culture and folk pedagogy.
The use of ethnocultural heritage of P. Chubynsky
in modern educational institutions will contribute to the
formation of worldview and national consciousness of
the individual patriot, will instill in students respect and
love for their native language, history, culture, traditions,
spiritual values and realize their responsibility to students
and youth for the future.
