Abstract

The development of a distance learning course covers the topic “Plants”. In this development, the structure of the flower as an organ of sexual reproduction is highlighted. Wherever we look, almost everywhere we see plants that are in bloom. They grow in forests and fields, in deserts and swamps, in the Arctic and Antarctic.

We wonder what structure the flower of a plant has. How are the fruits formed after flowering? Do all flowering plants reproduce by seed? The course is devoted to the study of the structure of a flower, the various inflorescences of flowers that exist in nature, the complexity of the inflorescences of flowering plants.

The author of this distance learning course gives a step-by-step description of the development of seeds and fruits of flowering, tree, and shrub plants from the flowering of plants to the formation of ripe seeds and fruits.

It is interesting to study the pollination and fertilization of flower plants, the formation of seeds, and the variety of fruits. Studying the life and development of flowering or woody plants, because they also bloom, aimed at teaching biology in the new Ukrainian school through the development of natural STEM- competences provide an opportunity to create models of the structure of flowers, inflorescences, seeds and fruits. Such studies contribute to the development of observation, interest, critical thinking, and biological imagination in schoolchildren.
