Abstract

The article deals with the peculiarities of identifying and developing musically gifted preschool children. It is noted that musical giftedness, as well as all types of artistic abilities, manifests itself much earlier than intellectual giftedness. The tasks and organisational aspects of musical education in preschool education institutions are characterised, and the specific features of the manifestation of signs of a child’s musical giftedness are described. It is noted that the identification and development of children’s musical talent is an important element of musical education, which makes it possible to study the uniqueness of each child’s musical talent holistically and synthetically and to determine an individual path in its formation and support. It is emphasised that the effectiveness of the development of musical abilities of preschool children largely depends on the extent to which the qualitative features of each child’s musical abilities are taken into account, so an important task of music teachers is to determine this originality in a timely manner.

It is noted that musical abilities often appear very early in a child, but the absence of early manifestation of musicality does not mean that the child is deprived of musical abilities, since the course of their development is very individual. That is why it is premature to say that a child lacks musical abilities until he or she receives systematic music education, and therefore, the assessment of abilities should be done in the dynamics, repeatedly. This will also help to avoid erroneous conclusions about the child’s non- musicality, which are sometimes made because of the lack of certain skills.A significant indicator of the development of musical abilities is the dynamics of a child’s mastery of various types of musical activity. Therefore, one of the important tasks of music education is to identify musically gifted children in a timely manner. This creates the basis for a comprehensive study of the specific features of each child’s musicality, which in turn helps to develop the most effective individual programmes for their further musical development.
