The Empirical Structure of the Motivation Components of Personal Potential of Gifted Youth According to Factor Analysis

Abstract

The article substantiates the empirical results of the study of the structure of motivational components of the personal potential of gifted youth based on factor analysis.  Four main factors were identifed, which together explain 44.576 % of the total variance. The frst factor explains 17.607 of the total variance and combines 10 motivational scales. The frst factor covered the largest number of scales and methods, which are aimed at the position of choosing a profession and academic success in the study of the subjects, so we called this factor “educational and motivational”. The second factor explains 10.005 of the total variance and combines 8 motivational scales. The second factor includes scales and methods aimed at psychological obstacles that must be overcome by the gifted during the realization of personal potential, therefore we named this factor “Identifcation of psychological barriers”. The third factor explains 9.991 total variance and combines 4 motivational scales. The third factor includes scales and methods that are aimed at potential resources and directly depend on the formation of motivation, therefore we called this factor “potentialmotivational”. The fourth factor explains 11.943 of the total variance and combines, as in the third component, 4 motivational scales. The fourth factor includes scales and methods aimed at overcoming psychological barriers and solving problems, rather than accumulating problems and avoiding them, therefore the factor is called “personalrealization”.
